Ixia you can hardly call it a village, has something that few villages on Rhodes have: from almost every place from Ixia you have a good to great view of the sea. And what a view…. nowhere on Rhodes does the sea seem bluer than here in Ixia or neighboring Ialyssós. light blue through azure blue to a deep dark blue hue far into the horizon. Seen from the north, Ixia first starts with a long row of small houses that run along the main street of the village. You will not see this street scene anywhere else in Rhodes. On the left side you have the small houses, on the right side you see the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and right in front of you you see the hotels looming.

The hotels in Ixia are among the first hotels to appear on the island of Rhodes. Together with Trianda, tourism on the island once originated in Ixia and Rhodes Town. Ixia is by far the smallest of these three places and will not expand much. There simply isn't the space for that. On the south side, Ixia immediately borders Ialyssós and the space between Rhodes Town and Ixia offers hardly any scope for expansion.

The location on the west coast offers some advantages to Ixia. It is a great place for surfing or kite surfing thanks to the almost ever-present wind from the sea. In addition, you have a fabulously beautiful sunset if the weather gods provide good visibility. The wind has an additional advantage: in the hottest months of July and August, this wind provides pleasant cooling.
